Bleach 251: Muramasa’s a moron

Bleach episode 251 review

Muramasa revives Koga only for Koga to stab him right through the chest. The rest of the episode is a flashback. And that’s it. If you’re wondering why I hated this arc so much, this is why. An absolutely stupid outcome to an uneven arc. Everything Muramasa did was for his own destruction. That’s just moronic.

Also, there were no girls in this episode to win “best girl of the episode.” Not a one appeared in this episode, save for an unnamed Soul Reaper halfway through. This episode is officially ruled a “no contest.”

Bleach 250: Milestone flashback

Bleach episode 250 review

It’s episode 250! Are we going to do anything special for it? No way Hosea Conseco now! No, instead we get a sad flashback about Koga and Muramasa. Basically, Koga’s a bad dude, so is Muramasa, and Koga’s part of the Kuchiki clan. Koga and Muramasa make their swords do to their owners what the people of Dressrosa were forced to do when Doflamingo was controlling them like puppets. Their own swords attack them and kill them.

All this is to say that Koga and Muramasa are a couple of crappy people who deserve to be defeated. The only question is, why in the world did Byakuya help them? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Best girl of the episode: Rukia (49) (a very brief appearance, but an appearance nonetheless)

Bleach 249: Cotton candy

Bleach episode 249 review

Ever notice that Byakuya’s Zanpakuto looks like a lot of cotton candy? That Zanpakuto fights the Quincy Uryu, while Rukia fights Muramasa. But it is too late by the time Ichigo gets there; Muramasa has unlocked the coffin of Koga, who is now being released and awakened.

Koga seems to be a common name in anime. Pokemon Gym Leader, InuYasha antihero, even a Bleach villain back in the Bount arc. In any case, he’s out of his coffin now, and Muramasa can finally either A) complete his master plan or B) suffer defeat because he doesn’t get what he bargained for. For some sinking reason I think B is more likely.

Not a bad episode by any means, just not really all that much to say.

Best girl of the episode: Rukia (48)

Bleach 248: Now you feel like Number One

Bleach episode 248 review

Muramasa’s true goal is revealed: he wants to awaken a Soul Reaper named Koga, which he will accomplish by terrorizing Karakura Town, which of course is yet again the center of the universe. Muramasa goes off there, but not before running into Orihime, Chad, and Uryu, who finally make appearances in this arc. And of course Orihime heals Muramasa, because why not? She just can’t help herself.

Ichigo & pals now need to escape Muramasa’s lair, which predictably involves Ichigo launching an all-out attack with “Number One” playing in the background. Yoruichi is still dealing with Haineko and Momo’s Zanpakuto, which seems like a sideshow at this point. And this incredibly jumbled plot continues on. It just doesn’t make sense, except for Old Man Yama acting like an idiot. Now that part makes a lot of sense.

Best girl of the episode: Orihime (38) (edging out Yoruichi)
