Bleach 253: Sleep-inducing

Bleach episode 253 review

So now Muramasa has become an Arrancar? Meanwhile, Byakuya has defeated Koga, but Muramasa has gone mad, and not even Orihime trying to use the power of love and friendship can stop him. More importantly, this episode absolutely put me to sleep. And that might be the sharpest indictment of the episode possible.

I don’t know where this is going, probably because I checked out of this arc by this point the first time around. It’s getting more ridiculous by the moment, though. And any positive momentum from the last episode has gone by the wayside thanks to this embarrassment.

Bleach 252: Byakuya’s ruse

Bleach episode 252 review

So Byakuya was faking being a bad guy all along! In this episode we find out that he was just joshing the whole time about being on Muramasa’s side, as was his Zanpakuto. “Jk lol guys, I can’t believe you fell for that!” And of course Muramasa stays loyal to Koga, who just tried to kill him. Which means we have two enemies: Muramasa and Koga.

Ichigo and Rukia team up for a 2-on-1 battle with Muramasa which I find quite refreshing. However, Byakuya is up against Koga in a 1-on-1 battle™. They go back and forth a bit before this episode comes to a close. All in all, a pretty good battle.

A step in the right direction in this episode for certain.

Bleach 251: Muramasa’s a moron

Bleach episode 251 review

Muramasa revives Koga only for Koga to stab him right through the chest. The rest of the episode is a flashback. And that’s it. If you’re wondering why I hated this arc so much, this is why. An absolutely stupid outcome to an uneven arc. Everything Muramasa did was for his own destruction. That’s just moronic.

Also, there were no girls in this episode to win “best girl of the episode.” Not a one appeared in this episode, save for an unnamed Soul Reaper halfway through. This episode is officially ruled a “no contest.”

Bleach 250: Milestone flashback

Bleach episode 250 review

It’s episode 250! Are we going to do anything special for it? No way Hosea Conseco now! No, instead we get a sad flashback about Koga and Muramasa. Basically, Koga’s a bad dude, so is Muramasa, and Koga’s part of the Kuchiki clan. Koga and Muramasa make their swords do to their owners what the people of Dressrosa were forced to do when Doflamingo was controlling them like puppets. Their own swords attack them and kill them.

All this is to say that Koga and Muramasa are a couple of crappy people who deserve to be defeated. The only question is, why in the world did Byakuya help them? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Best girl of the episode: Rukia (49) (a very brief appearance, but an appearance nonetheless)
