Sailor Moon R 86: Big Brother

Sailor Moon R episode 86 review

Chibi-Usa is gone, and the Sailor Guardians are all very sad. But there’s not much time for them to wallow in sorrow, because Wiseman makes his move to destroy everything in sight. In the meantime, a guy named Saphir can’t be saved by his brother and gets killed off. Everyone’s so upset, while I’m like, “who the hell is Saphir?” And then Black Lady (Chibi-Usa) starts attacking the Sailor Guardians again.

Not a bad episode by any means, but I’m tiring of this arc, as the only real thing that’s going on is people being brainwashed. Could we please have some battles between people who aren’t brainwashed?

Sailor Moon R 85: Gaslighting Picard

Sailor Moon R episode 85 review

This episode consists of practically nothing but Wiseman gaslighting Chibi-Usa into believing that nobody loves her, everybody hates her, she should just go eat worms. Chibi-Usa turns into Black Lady and attacks the Sailor Guardians. And now Sailor Moon vows that she’s going to save Chibi-Usa.

Aside from the total predictability of the episode, I get more and more frustrated every episode that Chibi-Usa is featured as the main character. I hate that little ball of pink fuzz. I prefer her as a bad guy to her usual self. She’s such a crybaby, she’s selfish, she’s whiny, and she doesn’t get her comeuppance like Usagi does. But sadly it seems that all we’re going to get is Chibi-Usa, Chibi-Usa, Chibi-Usa, until I can’t take it anymore.

Sailor Moon R 84: You better you better you bet

Sailor Moon R episode 84 review

“Small Lady” aka Chibi-Usa disappears, and then she gets told all kinds of lies from the Wiseman. Who is the Wiseman? Apparently he’s the ultimate villain of this arc. Because he offers Esmeraude the chance to become “Queen” Esmeraude, only for her to die instants later. Meanwhile, Sailor Moon and everyone figure out how to beat the Monster of the Week, but all is not hunky-dory yet. There’s still the problem of saving Chibi-Usa and saving the future from its ugly state.

Not a bad episode, certainly. I will miss Esmeraude’s laugh. Maybe she’s not truly dead yet?! I hope!

Sailor Moon R 83: We Didn’t Start the Fire

Sailor Moon R episode 83 review

All is revealed! Sailor Moon is actually that woman that looks exactly like her! And her daughter happens to be the annoying little brat that’s been pestering her for all this time. A version of Tuxedo Mask from the future shows up and tells them that the only way to conquer evil is through the power of love. Gee, isn’t that a great strategy? And now all the Sailor Guardians are out of power and helpless against the machinations of the enemy.

Am I just making fun of this because I already knew the truth? Or would I be mocking this episode had I watched it without any prior knowledge of Sailor Moon? Because everything that is revealed in this episode is painfully obvious to the viewer. It’s like telling us water is wet. Check that, is water wet? Or does water just make stuff wet? I don’t know. I was bored through this episode as a result.
