I didn’t catch any surfing at the Tokyo Games, so I am not at all familiar with how this sport is scored and judged. As such, I will admit I am taking a huge shot in the dark with these picks, as there isn’t all that much data to go off.
I have a good friend who is very experienced in taekwondo. Unfortunately, I don’t understand how the sport works, but I appreciate the amount of skill it takes to compete. It’s definitely been one of the better additions to the Olympic program since 1988.
Fencing always scared me as a little kid, one of those sports I would not want to be anywhere near. But it’s no longer dangerous like it was in the eighties. Even so, I admire the fencers for their courage in such a sport.
I can’t say I fully understand judo, so pardon me if I have nothing real of substance to add about it. Don’t get me wrong, it takes a ton of skill, I just don’t know how the sport works. The only thing I really know is that 2 waza-aris = 1 ippon, and 1 ippon = winning the match. That’s about the extent of my knowledge of judo.
