Bleach 68: End transmission

Bleach episode 68 review

So, all’s well that ends well, right? Ichigo and pals get blown into the gate, where they have to fight off the modsouls, including the one who disguises himself as them. They pull it off, and Ichigo sees Urahara’s hat lying around. He then deduces that Mr. Hat & Clogs was behind all the games in the first place and just wanted to mess with him and his pals a little bit.

Meanwhile, Soi Fon helps Yoruichi collect some data for a research project being hosted by Ukitake back in the Soul Society. At the very end of the episode, Yoruichi shows up to tell them all what they’ve got to be concerned about: A Bount. Whatever that means.

Bonus points for the supercute post-credits scene where Soi Fon goes to give chocolates to Yoruichi, who turns into a cat and refuses them. Oh, Soi Fon, you’re so cute when you try to win over Yoruichi!

Bleach 67: Games People Play

Bleach episode 67 review

Where do we go from here, now that all of the characters are accusing each other of being impostors? Ririn lets everybody know that one of the five of them is an impostor. Chad never speaks nearly the entire time, which means that he was the impostor. But now Ririn has made all of Ichigo’s classmates disappear, including Tatsuki, who I feel the worst about being missing.

There was some humor between the characters in this episode, but these “games” are getting tiring. I’d much rather have some real goal for everyone to accomplish, instead of all of these Mario Party mini-games where Ichigo & pals have to figure out a mystery.

Orihime wins best girl for having the most screen time of any girl, but no girl really got much screen time in this episode.

Bleach 66: Stuffed Animal Rights Organization

Bleach episode 66 review

Put Ichigo, Renji, Uryu, and Kon in a tough puzzle, and just add water. You get tons of hilarity between the four of them. This episode may have been like the previous one – next to pointless – but it was so funny because of the interactions between the characters, especially the Ichigo-Renji rivalry and the Uryu-Kon “I didn’t even know it was a” rivalry.

The modsouls show up, and Uryu calls them out on it. But although they’ve brought Orihime and Chad back, they disappear off into their other world, and we know this isn’t over yet. And not just because we just started an arc!

Funny, funny episode, despite its pointlessness. Just some good old pure tomfoolery.

Bleach 65: What the hell is going on out here?

Bleach episode 65 review

So! Ichigo & pals are now out to look for Orihime. Renji starts getting some calls on his soul phone and hears a voice that sounds not too different from Yachiru’s. The four of them have to play a “game” with the voice, which means running all over the place. After wasting an episode doing that, they finally reunite with Orihime – only to find that her body is possessed. To top it off, Chad gets kidnapped as well.

This is probably the part where I became skeptical of Bleach and started to wonder if it would ever reach the peak that it once had. Yes, only 2 episodes in. Because the entire first 3/4 of this episode was a waste of time, just Ichigo & pals running from place to place. Kind of like running from poison gas. A few jokes were funny, I’ll give it that.
