Bleach 84: She ain’t heavy, she’s my doll

Bleach episode 84 review

Izuru Kira, one of the more obscure Lieutenants in the Soul Society, shows up to help Ichigo fight off the Spider-Woman doll who has been giving him so much trouble. Meanwhile, Ichigo fights the Bount associated with that doll. Izuru has much more success than Ichigo, which tells you that we’re in a filler arc.

Meanwhile, a different Bount decides to attack one of his own, the woman who was up against Rukia and Orihime. The original Bount goes away, but now this new Bount has done the ages-old thing of taking over Rukia’s body and making her his puppet. Not exactly the most original of storylines here, but now it’s Rukia vs. Orihime, and not over Ichigo’s heart!

In case you can’t tell, I don’t know any of these Bounts’ names. They really need nametags.

Bleach 83: I shall become justice

Bleach episode 83 review

Rukia and Orihime team up with Kurodo to fight one Bount, and Kurodo (the modsoul) turns into Renji to give the two girls more of a fighting punch. That fails, though, and they’re left in a bad situation.

But not nearly as bad as a situation as Ichigo. He was actually winning the fight as Hollow Ichigo (Hichigo?), but then he insisted on taking his mask off, and then he got beaten down by the Bount against him.

And that’s not even why Ichigo’s situation is so bad! No, it’s really bad because he has to listen to one of the most mundane and boring flashbacks ever by the Bount. Seriously, I could not possibly care less about them.

Also, in Kon’s “Illustrated Guide to Soul Reapers – Golden” at the end of the episode, there’s a pretty funny scene with Kaname Tosen. I didn’t realize the guy was a humor magnet.

Bleach 82: Anteater

Bleach episode 82 review

So, Ichigo’s friend Keigo gets attacked by a Bount, and Ichigo has to fight that Bount, whose doll looks like a giant humanoid ant. Ichigo loses the fight at first somehow, before becoming part-Hollow and gaining the upper hand in the fight. But now it’s Ichigo vs. Hollow Ichigo vs. the Bount vs. the ant, and I’m getting confused who the good guy really is here.

Meanwhile, Renji gets knocked out, and Rukia has to go save him. Oh, and Ichigo got a headband that works as a Bount detector, which is how all this gets kicked off. I think they just wanted Ichigo to put that headband on so he’d look like Naruto. Mission accomplished.

Bleach 81: Dragonflies

Bleach episode 81 review

So, Kariya has gathered the Bounts together in some kind of cave and now has immense power. Not only that, but he’s got all these dragonflies which are attacking humans to try to suck out their souls. Renji goes to protect a boy harassed by them, but there are hundreds coming in his direction.

Meanwhile, Soi Fon shows up in Urahara Shop without Yoruichi, and she insults Kisuke’s “shack” that Yoruichi lives in. Oh, Soi Fon. You’re so jealous of Mr. Hat & Clogs.

Also, Uryu wants to go do… something, which he claims is not revenge. But he has no powers! What good will he do? Eh, who cares? If he dies now, then it’ll make things easier for the good guys in TYBW.
