Bleach 88: Ugly feeling about this

Bleach episode 88 review

Ichigo comes back with Keigo, and he is added to the laundry list of people who are recovering from getting beaten up. This includes Rukia, and even Orihime to an extent. Also, Hanataro manages to replace Renji’s memories – not sure why they needed to be replaced – and gets him back to health.

While the Bounts go off and plot… something, Yumichika, Shuhei, Rangiku, and Izuru all go off trying to find said Bounts. But as usual, they fall right into a trap set by the Bounts, or at least Rangiku does. Yumichika says at one point that “I’m having an ugly feeling about this” and keeps on using the word “ugly” as many times as possible. I guess when you’re a one-trick pony, you’ve got to keep on using that same trick as many times as you can.

Ichigo & pals are back and ready to go by the end of the episode, and Jinta gives Renji a special meal to keep with him. In the post-credits sequence, we see Renji try eating it, and finding out how spicy it is. Oh, and Nemu shows up to meet Uryu, further cementing my OTP.

A passable episode, but nothing remarkable.

Bleach 87: My name? Sidney Crosby

Bleach episode 87 review

Chad, Rangiku, and Noba have to figure out the Bount’s weak point which they can attack for massive damage. Eventually, they do exactly that, saving Ururu in the process. And that’s pretty much it.

You can feel the padding growing bigger and bigger. Even the filler arc isn’t filling enough time, so it needs more filler to fill more filler. Very fillery, you know?

Hey, at least Rangiku’s fun to be around. But man, this feels as dry as a Hueco Mundo desert.

Bleach 86: Purpose, it’s that little flame, that lights a fire under your…

Bleach episode 86 review

Ururu, Chad, and Noba are fighting Old Man Bount when Rangiku shows up. Always a good sign when Rangiku is around, because nothing never gets all too serious when she’s here. But maybe not this time, because Old Man Bount captures Ururu. Now it’s up to Rangiku, Chad, and Noba to rescue Ururu. And I just realized that this whole arc has been rescuing people.

Also, there’s a lot of talk about “purpose.” I didn’t know Rick Warren was hired as one of the writers for this episode. I don’t know how I know, but I’m gonna find my purpose… gotta find out, don’t wanna wait, got to make sure that my life will be great… gotta find my purpose, before it’s too late.

Rangiku is a ton of fun, but this episode still felt like something was missing. Perhaps it would have been better if we had two storylines like we had been having.

Bleach 85: Rukia rescued (again)

Bleach episode 85 review

Rukia has been possessed by the Bount’s doll, making her under his control. Now Rukia can fight the battle for him. It’s the oldest trope in anime, but I guess it’s still effective. Rukia fights against Orihime, who refuses to attack back. As a result, we get one of those bizarre battles where only one side is attacking.

Kurodo suggests that Orihime attack the Bount himself, but she refuses. So, Orihime continues to be attacked until “69 guy” (Shuhei Hisagi) shows up. Hisagi helps buy Orihime time so that she can go hug Rukia and win her back using the power of friendship (and Koten Sanshun as well).

Ichigo shares a nice scene with Izuru Kira where Izuru mentions how he lost someone close to him (Gin Ichimaru). Now it’s up to Hanataro to heal Keigo, and everyone else too.

At the last second, when Hisagi is about to take down the Bount, Maki Ichinose (the Soul Reaper on the Bounts’ side) swoops in to save the Bount (whose name I don’t know) and allow him to get away. That will prolong this battle a bit longer. Sorry if you wanted it to be over soon, cause we’re nowhere near the finish line.
