Bleach 11: The Quincy Uryu

Bleach episode 11 review

So, Uryu decides to finally show up and make an appearance. He states himself as Ichigo’s enemy, and he’s not kidding. Of course, Kisuke Urahara tells us a whole bunch of crap about the history of the Quincies (Quincys?), which all gets retconned in Thousand Year Blood War. Then Uryu says, “I challenge you to a duel!” or something similar to Ichigo. So now they’re going to go at it.

I was more amused in this episode with Keigo’s antics, and Tatsuki and Rukia showing up the one teacher who was mad at them for appearing on Don Kanonji’s show. Rukia really put up a great showing, but Tatsuki has won my heart, and she is going to edge out Rukia this time.

Overall, a good but not great episode.

Bleach 10: Nice Vibe

Bleach episode 10 review

It’s Quitters Day! The day people give up on their New Year’s resolutions! So, am I quitting reviewing Bleach? Not on your life!

Don Kanonji appears for the first time, and I totally forgot about his “Bwahahaha!” pose. I absolutely love Rukia doing the Don Kanonji pose and laugh. And Don Kanonji is hilarious. He’s kind of like Mr. Satan from Dragon Ball Z. Always funny to see him show up and get all the glory.

Next episode is really important, because it introduces a major villain from Thousand Year Blood War. Oh, am I getting ahead of myself? Well, not much to say about the content of this episode, besides the hilarity of Ichigo getting tossed about by a very weak Hollow. He looks like an absolute joke in this episode. How the hell is he going to go up against even a Lieutenant, let alone a Captain?!

Cause this is filler, filler time, and no one’s gonna stop me.

Best girl of the episode: Rukia (5) (man, she’s running away with this thing. Hurry up, Orihime!)

Bleach 9: Remember, this all gets retconned

Bleach episode 9 review

It’s hard to take anything related to Ichigo’s mother seriously when the entire story of her life gets retold in Thousand Year Blood War. So, when Ichigo fights Grand Fisher who killed his mother, I’m almost rolling my eyes at the situation. No, Ichigo, you didn’t cause your mother’s death. You see, your father was a Soul Reaper, your mother was a Quincy…

The fight was pretty cool, but given that it ended in a stalemate, something feels missing. Obviously we’re just buying time for Ichigo to fight him a second time. He better hurry up and do it, because Rukia is going to be in hot water in no time!

Bleach 8: Karin Punch

Bleach episode 8 review

Ichigo & his family are going to visit their mother’s grave when chaos ensues. That chaos doesn’t even include Karin kicking Isshin like any good daughter would. As it turns out, a Hollow attacks his family, and a random Soul Reaper confronts Rukia. This is the first sign we have that Rukia is in deep, deep trouble with the Soul Society.

Otherwise, the rest of this episode is simply Ichigo beating himself up for his mother’s death, which gets totally retconned in Thousand-Year Blood War. I have a hard time taking anything serious involving Ichigo’s parents because of the major retcons that occur there. Overall, just an average episode, not great though not really bad either.
