Bleach 79: She blew herself up for nothing

Bleach episode 79 review

So! Yoshino decides to confront the Big Bad head-on, which always helps. Obviously this doesn’t work, and she fuses herself into her fiery doll before losing and dying. Uryu kind of had a thing for her, so that’s disappointing, but it’s filler, so…

This part of the Bount arc is really annoying, because it’s mainly Bount-on-Bount action and not many of our good characters are involved. I promise you, they will show up at some point, but right now we’re in wait-and-see-it-out mode.

Bleach 78: I am not gloomy

Bleach episode 78 review

Ichigo & pals are all sitting around the Urahara table again, talking about how hopeless the situation is. That’s when Ganju shows up on the back of a boar, saying that he was looking for some “gloomy” spiritual pressure, and it led him right to Ichigo. So, Ichigo has to go on a training outing with Renji, while Ganju gets back to the convenience store, where Hanataro is waiting for him.

Yoshino also decides that she is going to go die, so she kisses Uryu goodbye. There goes one option for Uryu. Nemu might be the best left on the board, now that Ichigo has Orihime and Renji has Rukia. Uryu might have to trade up with Chad to get a better pick in the shipping draft.

All in all, a pretty entertaining episode, even if… not… much… happened.

Bleach 77: Good, I can feel your anger

Bleach episode 77 review

Maki has a big grudge against Kenpachi Zaraki, and that’s pretty much this entire episode. Flashbacks of him getting mad at Zaraki for taking over Squad 11, etc. Honestly, it was pretty boring, mainly because of the fact that this is filler.

Also, there’s some tomfoolery with the modsouls, another sad reminder that all this doesn’t count. Hopefully this arc kicks up a bit when the Soul Society starts arriving, which they should pretty soon.

Bleach 76: One-on-one battles

Bleach episode 76 review

One of the things that irks me about Bleach the most is that nearly every battle is a one-on-one battle, regardless of how advantageous it may be for one side to team up. Here we have that again, as Ichigo enters the house of the Bounts and gets told by the snake charmer that, while there are 7 Bounts present, only he will fight Ichigo. That allows Rukia and the modsouls with the chance to get away.

But then Rukia runs into a fellow Soul Reaper named Maki Ichinose. Apparently this guy has it in for Kenpachi Zaraki. So much so that he shows up and kills the snake charmer in obedience to Kariya. So Ichigo won the battle while not actually winning it. Meanwhile, Chad and Orihime (aka the useless duo) are trying to make their way to the mansion as well. And Uryu is still our damsel in distress, locked away as a prisoner.

A slight improvement on the last few episodes, I’d say.
