Konosuba season 3 episode 2 review
The gang has to meet a certain princess named Iris for… reasons. So, first they have to get all dolled up. Darkness and Aqua look lovely. We get a “no boobs” joke on Megumin, which I never mind. And we get Darkness alternating between serious, funny, and noble, because after all she is best girl.
Then they meet Iris. This Iris isn’t anything like my Princess Iris. My Princess Iris has red hair and a younger sister named Alexia. Instead, this Iris whispers to one of her two retainers and never speaks on her own. So, Kazuma and pals embarrass themselves three times over before Iris finally lets out her anger toward Kazuma for his lies/exaggerations.
But thanks to Darkness, things get smoothed out, so much so that Iris now is obsessed with Kazuma. And now she’s taken Kazuma away from the others. Which is bad news for the show, because this show only works with all four characters together. Remove one – even Megumin – and the show folds like a house of cards.
Overall, this episode was funny at times, but also a little bit too serious. Also, needs more maid Darkness.
