Kare Kano 14-16: Grandparents’ Day

His and Her Circumstances episodes 14-16 review

Kare Kano 15

Episode 14 is a recrap episode which adds nothing new to the story. Episode 15 is a hybrid recrap episode that incorporates some new elements to what we already knew. It’s not until episode 16 that we get a brand new story. In this one, Yukino’s father gets picked on by Yukino’s mother’s father (her grandfather), because he married her mother young and her grandfather never got over it. This leads to a humorous scene where their fight leads to Second Impact and then it comes up on the screen “The End.”

Then the next thing you see on the screen is “New Show,” so apparently we’re starting all over (I know, it’s just a joke). We get a long flashback about Yukino’s father and his grandfather, which actually isn’t as bad as you think, but it was kind of predictable. Ultimately, this last episode was the best of the bunch by far. Now Arima is going to return in the next episode to come.

BC 20: Late to the party

Black Clover episode 20 review

BC 20

Black Clover‘s problem isn’t that it’s too ridiculous or too stupid or too heavy-handed. It’s just too… unmemorable. There’s nothing about this episode to write home about. There’s nothing I really feel is worth putting in a blog post. It’s just kind of… there. And that means while at least I don’t hate Black Clover, I don’t really feel like blogging about it either because there’s nothing really to say.

What happens in this one? A big long awards ceremony for characters we’ve never met, and then Noelle getting embarrassed and mistreated by her own family. Sounds like it could be interesting, but for now, not so much.

Character of the episode: Noelle
