Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders episode 22 review
There were so many things wrong with this episode. I need to do a list this time.
- Avdol never died in the first place. This is about as cheap as it gets. I absolutely hate it when a movie or show makes it out that a character died and then brings them back after it had been clearly established that they were dead. It’s a cheap way of playing with the audience’s emotions. After it happens once, then it ruins all the other deaths in the show. The viewer never believes that a character is dead again, nor does the viewer even care, because he/she knows this can happen again.
- Avdol survived by the most bizarre explanation ever. This reminds me of the way the main character in Fight Club survived a self-inflicted shotgun wound. It stretches so far beyond the bounds of being believable that, just like in the prior note, the show has lost all its credibility when it comes to killing a character.
- Avdol acts way out of character. The guy isn’t even the same person he was before. What’s the point of bringing him back if he’s for all intents and purposes a different character? I don’t feel anything for Avdol if he’s not the same person.
- More toilet humor.
This is as close to a shark-jumping episode as it gets. Jojo is on full shark warning at this point. Unfortunately, I’m contractually obligated to keep on reviewing it until the end of this season, but it is possible that I’ll jump ship before part 4.
