Black Clover episode 5 review
Black Clover really caught me off guard this week. No, not by Yuno receiving every single squad member’s hand – I called that one right off the bat. And no, not by Asta receiving not a single hand – I called that one too. The way it caught me off guard was by its use of a poop joke. I never expected Jojo and Black Clover would use poop jokes in the same week. I haven’t rewatched Hunter x Hunter yet, so I’m not sure if I’ll get the turd trilogy, but this is impressive, two in a row.
Seriously speaking, I actually liked this episode, even though it was the most predictable thing I’ve ever seen. It was like Survivor. You spend the whole episode knowing what’s going to happen, and when it actually does happen, you’re happy that it happened that way even though you knew that would happen the whole time. The only thing that surprised me was that the Black Bulls and Golden Dawn haven’t been revealed to hate each other… yet. They still could, and that would be yet another non-surprise that I’d be okay with. In any case, I feel positive about this episode this week.
Character of the episode: Asta (is there much choice, really?)
