Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders episode 16 review
This Jojo episode was a mixed bag. The Stand this bad guy (Dan of Steel) has is pretty cool; it goes right into Joseph’s brain and causes him to take pain any time Dan of Steel himself takes a hit. (Incidentally, it’s a real disappointment that Viz Media was forced to change the name of this character from Steely Dan to Dan of Steel. I guess that’s what happens with copyrights, but had I not looked it up, I would have never gotten the joke.)
But after Joseph leaves in a vain attempt to escape Dan of Steel’s Stand, the episode takes a sharp turn downward. There’s this utterly bizarre scene where Dan of Steel uses Jotaro as a bridge to cross water. The only reason I can think that this scene was put into the show was for some sort of masochistic fantasy by the writers. It otherwise served no purpose.
So now Kakyoin and Polnareff have their stands inside Joseph’s ear(!) to attempt to save him from Dan of Steel’s Stand. I’m interested in finding out how they figure it out. Meanwhile, Jotaro is even more useless in this episode than he’s been this arc, and that’s saying a lot. So much for it being his Bizarre Adventure.
