Eyeshield 21 episodes 9-10 review
Episode 9 introduces Taro Raimon, better known as Monta, who wants to play baseball but absolutely sucks at it. He wants to become a “catching star,” but for those of you who know baseball, catching is only a minor part of the game. So eventually Sena ropes Monta into playing football, and he becomes a star receiver.
Episode 10 had the hilarious moments of “Eyeshield 21” (really Hiruma) delivering a message to the player who Sena had accidentally run over, and the message was that “Eyeshield 21” had done it on purpose. It was a trash-talk message, and it was utterly hilarious. Sena came to the hospital to apologize to the player, and lift his spirits.
Unfortunately, my memory of which episodes were which is kind of blurred. I ended up watching episodes 9 through 13 because I was enjoying it so much. But I’ll tell you right now that I’m really enjoying Eyeshield 21, even if the actual football isn’t so good. It’s quickly becoming a favorite of mine, especially with the clueless Mamori as a main character. She really adds a lot to the humor appeal of the show, which is what it seems to be really good at. But nothing beats the fake messages that Hiruma puts out on “Eyeshield 21’s” behalf. Hiruma is just so over-the-top funny that you can’t have the show without him.
