Toonami Roundup: 5/13/17

toonami-2016

This week in… Toonami…

Dragon Ball Super episode 18: Goku and Vegeta have some rather dull ways of training, but all that is about to get thrown out the window. Guess who’s back? Back again? Frieza’s back! Tell a friend! Guess who’s back, guess who’s back, guess who’s back… Rating: **

Dragon Ball Z Kai episode 117: The World Martial Arts Tournament is reduced to a battle royale in which Mr. Satan has everyone teaming up against him… or so he thinks, because Eighteen is just going up against “Mighty Mask.” And what would have been an exciting tournament has come to this. Rating: **

Attack on Titan episode 29: AoT has gotten better and better in this new season, in what has to be the surprise of the season. Who knew AoT could be so good? Now, can it sustain it? Rating: ***1/2

Tokyo Ghoul episode 7: Not much to write home about again, just a girl in a rabbit mask (actually Touka) who is causing trouble for the ghoul-hunters. Rating: **

Hunter x Hunter episode 51: The “morally ambivalent” Phantom Troupe start killing everybody in sight. This is why you should never listen to fortune-tellers. Anything they ever say leads to mass killings. Rating: ***1/2

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn episode 19: Can’t wait for Lupin III! Rating: *

Naruto Shippuden episode 157: “Most people feel at first they can steel themselves against it, but they’re completely unprepared for the intensity of the… PAIN.” Rating: **

Ghost in the Shell episode 12: The Tachikomas go nuts! These Tachikomas have minds of their own, and they go absolutely bonkers in this episode. They are so cute! And an absolutely hilarious scene ensues where the Major and Batou are talking to each other telepathically while saying different things with their mouths. Then the Tachikomas celebrate prematurely, before getting turned off for good. An amazing episode that was the very best of Ghost in the Shell. Rating: ****

Best show of the week: Ghost in the Shell

Most surprisingly good show of the week: Ghost in the Shell

Most disappointing show of the week: Dragon Ball Z Kai
