Toonami Roundup: 5/6/17

toonami-2016

This week in… Toonami…

Dragon Ball Super episode 17: Goku asks Whis if he please-pretty-please-with-a-cherry-on-top will let him train with him. Whis eventually relents. This episode was all about Chi Chi. In fact, when you hear our upcoming Toonami Therapy podcast, you’ll hear me say that I didn’t like this episode. Actually, that was a mistake. I meant to say that I didn’t like the Kai episode, but I mixed up the two episodes. Chi Chi was great in this episode, and I really enjoyed her antics. Rating: **1/2

Dragon Ball Z Kai episode 116: This was the episode I meant to say I didn’t like. Boring battles, and not much to write home about. Rating: *1/2

Attack on Titan episode 28: A bit confusing of an episode, but basically Pastor Nick spills the beans and lets Hange know that she’s got to go to Krista/Christa to find out what’s going on inside the walls. Meanwhile, Levi has a mission for Eren that he better not screw up. Oh, and Potato Girl gets to eat. Rating: **1/2

Tokyo Ghoul episode 6: A rather nondescript episode save for that little girl crying at the top of her lungs. Rating: **

Hunter x Hunter episode 50: Gon and Killua use “ostomy” to escape by simply kicking down walls. Since I already covered this episode earlier this week (go back and read it!), I’ll spend this moment to tell you about how bad the pacing becomes once we reach the triple digits in episode numbers of this series. There are literally seven episodes that go by, and at the end of the last of such episodes, the narrator says “three minutes have passed.” That’s right, three minutes pass in what is approximately seven episodes. One episode is almost entirely focused on Gon’s facial expressions. We are going to be in utter torment when it gets time to review those episodes. Rating: **

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn episode 18: How many episodes left again? Rating: 1/2

Naruto Shippuden episode 156: Naruto is just about finished training when Pain attacks the Hidden Leaf Village. Stuff’s about to go down now. Rating: **1/2

Best episode of the week: Attack on Titan

Most surprisingly good episode of the week: Naruto Shippuden

Most disappointing episode of the week: Hunter x Hunter
