I was a big George Michael fan. Not so much of Wham!, but I really did love George Michael. It’s hard to pick a favorite song of his. I’d probably rank “Careless Whisper” 3rd, “Monkey” 2nd & “Faith” 1st. When he died on Christmas Day, I felt a little piece of myself ripped out. His death, along with Prince’s, really hit me hard, in a year where tons of celebrities dropped like flies.
Jojo wins the battle with Wamuu, then spends an inordinate amount of time trying to make Wamuu look like he wasn’t that bad of a guy. He murdered Caesar! Not the pizza guy, rather your friend Caesar, Jojo! But yet you want him to die with dignity? Give me a break! This was so ridiculous that it stopped me from giving this episode a great score. Why must we always make out these villains to be “not that bad” of people?
But he’s not the only one who gets redemption! The Nazi von Stroheim also gets a chance to be looked on as a good person, because he helps Jojo by killing off some vampires. You do realize he killed a whole room full of people, and that’s just what we saw on screen. Now you can make the argument that this is a Japanese show, and Japan would of course tend to be more pro-Germany. But that’s still no excuse.
There’s one more stupid thing about this episode. Kars says he’s going to fight one-on-one with Lisa Lisa. He then breaks his promise to her and tricks her by using a double. But then as Jojo saves Lisa Lisa and gets ready to fight Kars, Kars makes a promise to Jojo that he’s going to fight him one-on-one! Why would Jojo even partially believe Kars after he just broke the promise to Lisa Lisa? You should know now that everything coming out of Kars’ mouth is a lie. And are we going to have another sob scene when Kars inevitably dies? I don’t feel bad for Kars at all.
Oh, and Lisa Lisa is Jojo’s mother.
