Toonami Roundup: 2/11/17

I took a week of leave after Adult Swim failed to update most of the shows online, leaving me in the dark over what happened last week. The only ones I got to see were Hunter x Hunter, Naruto, One Piece, and Ghost in the Shell. Now Ghost in the Shell is missing, meaning it will be left off the list this week.

Dragon Ball Super ep 6: Beerus owns Vegeta, so Vegeta’s only hope is appeasement. Beerus gets invited by Bulma to take place in the festivities, while Vegeta hopes with baited breath that he won’t get set off. Eventually, it’s that one useless fat guy who manages to set Beerus off. It’s actually a pretty humorous ep that I enjoyed a lot. Rating: ***

Dragon Ball Z Kai ep 104: Gohan trains Videl, and Videl cuts her hair. Seriously, that’s it. I know Dragon Ball isn’t exactly the most exciting anime, but this was ridiculous. Rating: *

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure ep 16: After missing last week’s ep, I was completely out of the loop for this one. Something about poison rings? Meanwhile, we get a super-boring training episode with overreactions every couple of seconds by Caesar and Jojo. Don’t lose your way, Jojo, but I’m afraid you’ve lost it by now. Rating: *

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn ep 6: Are we really 6 episodes through this monstrosity? Thank goodness. This ep wasn’t terrible, but there’s so many better shows that could be airing in this time slot. Rating: *1/2

Hunter x Hunter ep 38: Ging is as bad of a father as Hoenheim and Gendo Ikari put together. But as bad as he is, it doesn’t take away from the fact that this ep was quite entertaining. Even Killua’s brother may serve useful. Rating: ***

Naruto Shippuden ep 145: Naruto protects a girl named Hotaru, and he safely gets her to her village. A flashback shows her training. Then Naruto gets second thoughts, and he goes back to presumably save her. This is filler, filler night. Rating: **

One Piece ep 379: Last ep was a boatload of fun. This one is a bit more sentimental, but still good. Brook in his past life nurses along the whale and plays music for him, and the whale follows his crew’s ship. They spend a long time together, until deciding to leave him behind and promising him to come back to him someday. You know how well those promises work. In any case, I fully enjoyed this story. Rating: ***

Best show of the week: Hunter x Hunter

Most surprisingly good show of the week: One Piece

Most disappointing show of the week: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
